The Coolest Custom Engagement Ring!!
It's been some time since I finished this special custom engagement ring, but I am still high from the whole experience. I have been so lucky and honored to have been commissioned to create custom engagement rings in the past, but Cooper and Julia gave me this truly special opportunity to create their engagement ring.
They reached out to me last year by email and asked if I could make a special ring for them. They were traveling from Australia to Japan and wanted to pick the ring up while they were in Osaka. I was so thrilled to say the least.
Julia and Cooper sent me a couple of images to show me what they were hoping the ring to look like, and were kind enough to trust me and gave me freedom to work in design for the most part. Their request was to use a raw diamond and multi colored sapphires which happened to be my absolute favorite gems to work with. The whole exchange in email went smoothly as they are the best customers to work with. They also gave me enough time to shop for a perfect raw diamond and finalize the design. (Take notes, if ever wanted to have a special custom piece!) We initially had one sapphire on each side on the diamond, but decided to add two instead. It is always the best to give plenty of time for the jeweler to work on such a special piece.
The ring features a generous size (1.57ct) raw diamond as a center stone, and two sapphires that are all different colors on each side. The ring is absolutely stunning, and modern yet gives a little bit of classic style in details. It is such a unique one-of-a-kind, cool piece that is perfect for Julia and Cooper who are working in the creative field.
I met up with them at Osaka castle park in March. The day was sunny and felt like the first day of spring. It was also around the time for cherry trees starting to bloom so we really could not ask for a better day. Cooper got down on one knee and proposed to her with the ring!
It was seriously the best moment as a jewelry maker to see her reaction when she saw the ring for the first time in person. I could not be happier for them and it was so amazing to be part of their lovely journey.
